Top 5 Beginner Photo
Editors for Windows

Are you looking for a good photo editing program for your digital photos? Well, a good photo editing program should offer you good image editing features at a reasonable price.

For digital photography enthusiasts, good image editing features include red-eye removal, noise removal and other photo enhancement options.

The presence of creative tools and the ability to process several image formats is also important.

I’ve personally tried out many of such programs myself and have compiled a list of the top 5 beginner photo editors for Windows. Let’s have a look at that list now …

Adobe Photoshop Elements

Adobe Photoshop Elements has all the tools you need to organize, edit and share your digital photos. Besides standard image-editing options, there are also photo enhancement tools like red-eye removal and color cast adjustment. This program is recommended if you don’t need all the power of Adobe Photoshop CS and but find the features in Adobe Photoshop Album too lightweight.

Microsoft Digital Image Suite

The Microsoft Digital Image Suite package contains all the features you need to edit and organize your photos. If you need to quickly touch up your photos, there is a wide range of Autofix tools for this purpose. You can also turn your photos into video and burn them into a DVD for playback on the TV. On the whole, a great photo editor with a wide range of user-friendly features.

Ulead PhotoImpact

One of the best-selling photo editors out there is Ulead PhotoImpact. Ulead Systems makes great software, and this program is no exception. With its easy-to-use wizards, you can easily create graphics, edit photos and add special effects. I highly recommended it for the beginner digital photography enthusiast.

Jasc Paint Shop Pro

Jasc Paint Shop Pro is the latest version of the popular image editor from Jasc software. This program has been a favorite of mine for many years. Besides offering a full range of image editing functions, there are also options for artistic effects and digital photo touchup. On the whole, a good program with some features that even surpass advanced image editing programs like Adobe Photoshop CS.

Roxio PhotoSuite

The final tool in this list of top beginner photo editors is Roxio PhotoSuite. This software is very affordable and comes with great extras like templates, fun effects and project ideas. It’s wonderful for the beginner who wants a simple-to-use and fuss-free photo editor.

Conclusion

So there we have it - my favorite beginner photo editing programs for Windows. Which of these programs would I pick up if I were in a store? I'd probably go for Ulead PhotoImpact or Jasc Paint Shop Pro. Your mileage may vary, of course. Always remember, though - understand your image editing needs before shelling out the cash. Don't pay for a super-duper image editor with advanced features when you really want a simple, straightforward program.

Share Your Pictures at SmugMug

If you've tons of digital photos to share and but are not sure which photo sharing site to choose, then do take a look at SmugMug. I've been a happy user of their photo sharing service for two years now and I've been most impressed by it. The service allows you to upload, arrange and share your photos, as well as buy prints or burn picture CDs.
