Happy New Year to one and all! Well, it's been an interesting year here. Since the website launched in Feb 2005, we've seen a huge increase in traffic volume. We're hitting about 800 visitors a day, which is very healthy indeed.

Resolutions for 2006? Well, to bring you more tips and tricks on photography, of course. I'm also thinking of launching a little book to consolidate all the tips given in the website. What do you guys think? Suggestions are welcome - just drop me a note. Till then, have a great year ahead!

How To Get Into Professional Photography

Question: Can you give me any tips as to how to get into professional photography, and also what I would need to do so? What approach should I take, who should I contact? I am only 18 and it is probably my favoured career plan.

Taylor, United Kingdom

Answer: I'd certainly recommend that you check out a photography school. There's a good directory list at Yahoo UK! which you should read first.

Many of these schools offer home study photography training to make you a great photographer in your spare time.

They teach you how to properly use your camera, exposure, lenses, pro techniques; study wedding and sports photography, photojournalism, portraiture  and other photographic specialties. Good luck!

Tip of The Week

Do you envy professional photographers who always seem to know how to take shots at interesting angles?

Well, here's a tip. The next time you're taking digital photos, go through all your usual motions, then right before you're about to snap your shot - DON'T. That's a great piece of advice. Stop and think, then try to frame the shot so that it's not the same kind of shot you've always taken. Reposition yourself, move around or look at your subject from a different angle. You'll be amazed at the results.
